6-12" Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana) tree seedlings. The lacy foliage and shaggy reddish bark of these evergreens will add appeal and contrast to your yard. The bark has flat grey ridges and readily peels off in strips. It is a favorite nest-building material of the Cardinal. The wood has long been a favorite for constructing trunks and decorative boxes. It has a beautiful marbled, reddish color and is pleasantly aromatic. They do well, even in dry soil, and they will grow up to be a highly effective wind screen when planted in a row. They break the force of wind by absorbing it rather than by rerouting it up over the barrier the way solid walls and fences can. Hardy for Zones 2-9. Nursery grown: Pennsylvania license No. 319.
