White Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida) tree seedlings. The beautiful white blossoms are one of the earliest signs of spring on the landscape. Dense lustrous green foliage turns bright scarlet red in the fall. As the leaves fall, this tree sports bright red berry clusters. The bark is gray-brown to red-brown, and is thin and fissured. Does best in rich, moist soils, but adapts to all soils. Likes full sun, but will tolerate some shade. Most trees bloom in the second or third year. Grows to 40' and is hardy for Zones 4-8. Nursery grown: Pennsylvania license No. 319.
