Glimmer Shop~~~Red Osier Dogwood Seedlings
Red Osier Dogwood (Cornus stolonifera) tree seedlings. Also known as Kinnikinnik, it is really more like a large, spreading, thicket-forming shrub. Clusters of small white flowers come on in late spring, and small whitish fruit that wildlife enjoy follows. The foliage turns a purple-red in the fall. This Dogwood is prized by basketweavers for the bright burgundy-red bark of its branches. The shrub grows abundantly in hedgerows as well as in cultivated landscapes and can be harvested for use as a weaving element. Good for wetland plantings, especially along stream beds. Tolerates some shade. Hardy for Zones 2-7. Nursery grown: Pennsylvania license No. 319.
